About Our Dojo
Shukokai Karate Cranbourne was established in 2005 and has grown from a small 80m² training space into a 325m²+ state-of-the-art purpose-built dojo at 54 Industrial Circuit, Cranbourne West — one of the finest karate facilities in the region.
The Cranbourne dojo is the home of the Shukokai Karate Dojos organisation — the chief instructors’ base, and the flagship of the network. Students come from Cranbourne, Cranbourne West, Clyde, Clyde North, Berwick, and surrounding communities.
We run programs for every age from 3 years through to adults. Whether your child is taking their first steps in martial arts or you’re an adult looking to get fit, build confidence, and learn a genuine self-defence skill — there’s a class here for you.
Your Instructors
The Cranbourne dojo is led by the chief instructors of the Shukokai Karate Dojos organisation — highly experienced, nationally accredited karate instructors who have dedicated their lives to teaching traditional Shukokai karate.

The Style: Shukokai Karate
We teach Shukokai Karate — a traditional Japanese karate style known for its powerful, explosive technique and emphasis on practical application. The style was developed by Sensei Tani in Japan and is maintained through a direct lineage to the Shito-ryu Shukokai Union.
Students learn the complete art: kata (forms), kihon (basic techniques), and kumite (sparring). Unlike many modern martial arts schools, Shukokai teaches something real — students who train here know the difference.
The Cranbourne dojo also offers Kobudo — traditional Japanese weapons training including bo staff, sai, and tonfa. This program is unique to the Cranbourne location within the Shukokai Dojos network.

Shukokai Karate Dojos is affiliated with Karate Victoria and Karate Australia — the recognised governing bodies for karate in Victoria and nationally.
